CONNECTIVITY |
Requirements for internet access vary from customer
to customer.
The type of connection you have will determine the speed
of access to the internet. Additionally, the way your
IP (Internet Protocol) address is assigned will influence
other options, such as how you can use your connection
for e-mail and other services. Normally an IP address
is assigned dynamically . This means it is allocated
to you for the duration of your connection, and then
released when you disconnect. A 'static' or permanent
IP address is a requirement for hosting your own web
site or mail server.
DIAL-UP MODEM
With connections at up to 56.6Kbps, a modem is an inexpensive
way to connect, and is available to anyone with a telephone
line. Good for the single user, requiring occasional
e-mail or web access.
ISDN
Connecting at up to twice the speed of a conventional
modem, ISDN is a digital, metered service, suitable
for occasional web access, and frequent business e-mail
serving multiple users in a small office environment.
WIRELESS BROADBAND
With speeds of up to 1Mbps, Wireless broadband provides
a fast, permanent internet connection which integrates
seamlessly with your existing office network.
ADSL
Fast digital internet access, with unlimited time online.
Suitable for a home internet 'power user', or businesses
requiring medium bandwidth usage.
LEASED LINES
High speed, high bandwidth, with a permanent connection,
a leased line is a powerful business solution enabling
your internal company network, web and mail servers
to connect to the internet.
